The Government of Costa Rica acquired 3 million doses of vaccines, for an application to one and a half million people (total population 52 million). The National Commission of Epidemiology has prioritized five groups for Covid-19 vaccinations
Group 1: seniors aged 65 years and older and , front-line workers, high-risk health workers and first responders.
Group N°2: adults aged 58 years and older with and without pre-existing medical conditions and/or disability.
Group N°3: adults aged between 18 and 58 years of age with high-risk medical conditions.
Group N°4: teachers, school staff, child-care workers and people in prisons.
Group N°5: students in certain health-related fields. General population aged 40 to57 years who work in industries that require contact with people or have a high impact on the economy such as agriculture, construction, customer service, restaurants, and housekeeping.
