{"id":1424,"date":"2018-06-23T12:18:17","date_gmt":"2018-06-23T12:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.puravidauniversity.eu\/uk\/?p=1424"},"modified":"2018-07-23T12:31:42","modified_gmt":"2018-07-23T12:31:42","slug":"costa-rica-appoints-new-tourism-minister-maria-amalia-revelo-raventos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.puravidauniversity.eu\/uk\/costa-rica-appoints-new-tourism-minister-maria-amalia-revelo-raventos\/","title":{"rendered":"Costa Rica appoints new Tourism Minister, Mar\u00eda Amalia Revelo Ravent\u00f3s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1425 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.puravidauniversity.eu\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/07\/Minister.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"203\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The newly elected President of Costa Rica, Mr. Carlos Alvarado Quesada, has chosen Mar\u00eda Amalia Revelo Ravent\u00f3s as the country\u2019s new Tourism Minister, replacing Mauricio Ventura as head of the department.<\/p>\n<p>Mar\u00eda Amalia Revelo holds a master\u2019s degree in Business Administration from the prestigious INCAE Business School and a bachelor\u2019s degree in Statistics from the University of Costa Rica. She boasts over 40 years\u2019 experience in the country\u2019s tourism sector, where she has held a number of positions of high responsibility in both the public and private sectors. She was also Deputy Manager and Marketing Director at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitcostarica.com\/en\">Costa Rican Tourism Board<\/a> (ICT), where she developed and implemented key marketing strategies to promote the tourism industry in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n<p>Among her priorities as Tourism Minister are the promotion of medium-sized and small companies; the development of new local destinations and products, with a special focus on culture and gastronomy; and the strengthening of the joint work between the public and private sectors. Sustainability will be a cross axis in all her actions in the Ministry. In addition, she will also work on the positioning of Costa Rica as an attractive destination for the MICE industry (now that the country\u2019s new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crconventioncenter.com\/\">Convention Centre<\/a> is open) and on attracting new flight routes to the country.<\/p>\n<p>Just before the appointment, Mar\u00eda Amalia Revelo held the position of Commercial Director and Advisor at <em>Aeris Holding<\/em>, where she was in charge of developing new flight routes and attracting airlines to Juan Santamar\u00eda International Airport (San Jos\u00e9) and Daniel Oduber Quir\u00f3s Aiport (Liberia).<\/p>\n<p>The new Tourism Minister has also taken an active part in trade unions and organisations within the private sector of Costa Rica. She was a member of the boards of directors at the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), Site Chapter Costa Rica, the Association of Professionals in Tourism (ACOPROT) and the Meetings and Incentives Association.<\/p>\n<p>Mar\u00eda Amalia Revelo has received some important awards throughout her career in the Costa Rican tourism sector, including EXPOTUR\u2019s \u201cBest Promoter\u201d in 1987 and \u201cPioneering Woman in Tourism\u201d in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Revelo\u2019s experience and career has generated great expectation and confidence within the Costa Rican tourism sector. \u201cWe are very pleased with Mar\u00eda Amalia\u2019s appointment.
